I just read the truest sentences about love in a post on Paulo Coelho’s blog. It’s not that I admire him, nor that I’m prejudiced. But that, coming from a man with a wisdom I expect to seek deeper into things, makes it even a deeper conviction for me.
Paulo says, that the pursuit of happiness should not be confused for the pursuit of love. As a matter of fact, one that I found I shared with him, it is the exact opposite. Love, if such an illusion exists at all, is nothing but anguish itself.
It’s a misconception. Love brings anxiety, anguish about whether we are deserving, adequate, or too trusting. I’ve known people who lived their lives searching for it, and I marvel at them. Somewhere along their search they must have found out that it is not the end they deserve, that “love” is but the road to disappointment; a mirage.
But what really is marvelous, is that they keep looking. They make themselves believe that they can’t live without it, when actually, while they’re looking, they are constantly without it and doing well.
But it is the illusion of happiness. The illusion that once we are there, all will change. But reality tells us, that once we are there, all will end. And the change that will force itself, is a very disappointing one.

Never put both feet in your mouth at the same time, because then you will not have a leg to stand on.............................................
I thank you for the time you spend reading me. But I don't understand the meaning of that proverb. Could you please explain?
