I believe that nothing happens in vain. There is no such thing as coincidence.
Everything is exactly where it was supposed to be, everything happens for a reason. Sometimes our lacking human minds cannot grasp the possibilities, or imagine the ends.
I look at you as you stand there
And it takes me years back
I sit down and you stand up
So we can level
And your eyes are like two full moons
Full of explanation and defense
And I think to myself as I look at you,
Where were you 7 years ago?
Could I ever have foreseen this day?
I stare at your oval face as you tell me your story
Your arms fly out in the air
Pointing and waving
Your voice chokes over pretended self pity
Your lips arch as you hold back tears
And I can’t hear a single word you’re saying
I can only see a little girl
Oval grimacing face, wide tearful eyes, and arms kept tight to my sides
I’d be standing, but so would he
We never leveled eyes
And suddenly everything falls in place
That beauty mark on your right wrest
Those lines that embrace your smile
And the way you tell a story when you’re guilty
Life has reason
Life has aim
Who cares who played ball in the kitchen?
You’re my son
And I love you
